The US, the UK, Albania and 11 other European countries have strongly condemned the threatening activities of Iranian intelligence services in Europe and North America.
In a joint statement issued by the US State Department, it expressed concern about the increase in threats, including attempted assassinations, kidnappings and harassment of journalists and officials from Iran. The statement emphasizes that Iranian services are increasingly cooperating with international criminal organizations, violating the sovereignty of the countries involved.
"These actions are unacceptable ," the statement said, while the signatory countries pledged to work together to prevent such attacks and called on the Iranian authorities to immediately cease these illegal activities.
Albania, as one of the signatories, reaffirms its commitment to protecting national sovereignty and security, in cooperation with international allies.
" The United States, the United Kingdom, Albania, Austria, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, and Sweden condemn the increasing number of state threats by Iranian intelligence services in our respective territories.
We are united in our opposition to the efforts of Iranian intelligence services to kill, kidnap, and harass people in Europe and North America, in clear violation of our sovereignty. These services are increasingly collaborating with international criminal organizations to target journalists, dissidents, Jewish citizens, and current and former officials in Europe and North America. This is unacceptable.
"We consider these types of attacks, regardless of the target, to be violations of our sovereignty. We are committed to working together to prevent these actions from occurring and call on Iranian authorities to immediately end such unlawful activities in our respective territories," the State Department statement said .
