AMP has launched an operation in Saranda, Ksamil and surrounding areas, as part of the investigation into the involvement of several officers in illegal construction. Preliminary sources indicate that arrests are expected at the Saranda Police Station, while the operation is still ongoing.
The Police Supervision Agency has undertaken a wide-ranging operation this Friday in the city of Saranda, Ksamil and several other surrounding areas, as part of an investigation that allegedly involves police officers.
Preliminary sources indicate that the action is related to suspicions of the involvement of police officers in cases of unauthorized construction, as well as inaction or favoritism towards entities that have carried out construction in violation of the law.
It is learned that AMP agents have conducted checks and verifications at the premises of the Saranda Police Commissariat, while the possibility of escorting and arresting suspected officers in the coming hours cannot be ruled out.
The operation is being conducted in cooperation with investigative structures and so far there has been no official reaction on the number of people involved or the specific charges against them.
Sources close to the investigation indicate that the focus of the operation is to identify cases where police officers are suspected of having allowed or favored unauthorized construction in the southern tourist areas, mainly in Saranda and Ksamil.
Meanwhile, AMP is expected to issue an official announcement after the completion of the operation, which is still ongoing.
