Eurocommissioner Oliver Varhelyi has requested the immediate opening of the first chapters of negotiations with Albania. According to him, our country has met all the conditions set by the European Union.
"The European Commission has been waiting for the decision of the member states for the opening of negotiations for several months. A member state must be unblocked. We must keep our promise because Albania has fulfilled all the conditions.
The second intergovernmental conference must be held before the European elections. Start the review of the first chapter on fundamental rights and continue. We must keep our promises to the candidate countries as too much time has been wasted.
This has to do primarily with our credibility in front of the Western Balkan states", said Varhelyi.
