The situation in Durrës has become more difficult this Thursday, with the Erzen River overflowing its banks, which has led to an increase in flooded areas in this region.
Especially in the villages of Sukthi and Katundi i ri, where the authorities have ordered the immediate evacuation of residents. But not everyone is obeying this order.
Ndue Prenga told the media that he cannot leave because of the pigs and dogs he has at home.
"The situation is very bad, I've been flooded four times. I still haven't paid off the debts from the first, second and third time," says the old man. He adds: "They've taken away zero from me!"
The citizen says that water entered his apartment around 4:30 in the morning and that he spent the night awake from worry.
"He ruined everything, including my furniture and stove...", he recounts, adding that representatives of the authorities went to pick him up to send him for evacuation to the Volga area of the city, but he refused.
Prenga says he will go in the coming days, but for now he has chosen to stay: "I have pigs and dogs, I will go because I will go, but tomorrow and the day after tomorrow."
