Anti-Albanian slogans have returned to North Macedonia, popping up from time to time like mushrooms after every political or electoral rain.

At a bus station in the capital of North Macedonia - Skopje, namely the one near the "Goce Delchev" dormitory, an Albanian found a slogan written in white: "Death to the Albanian - Death to the Albanians".

It's Ylli Pacuku, a civil society activist in Skopje, who, after learning that this slogan had been up for a few days, went himself and deleted the hateful phrase.

Pacuku wrote on his social media page that he had been notified by some of his colleagues about the slogan, which no one from the North Macedonian authorities had thought of.

"This hateful graffiti at the bus stop in front of the Goce Delchev dormitory has been circulating on social media for a few days. I was waiting for it to be cleaned up, but since it was still there, I just cleaned it up myself."

It's no big deal, I just don't want to spend every day in a place where I've waited for a bus before and see words that have no place in a student space, or even in this city.

"As for those who write these... maybe it's time to invest more in their minds than in markers," writes Ylli Pacuku, whose post was also shared by Bujar Osmani, vice president of DUI and former Foreign Minister of North Macedonia.

The area where the slogan is written is a territory where Albanians are quite few in number. The Taslixhe neighborhood where the dormitory named after the hero of the Bulgarian national revival is located is located in the municipality of Karposh. Which is part of the larger municipality of Skopje. Located in one of the “quiet” suburbs of the capital, this area with a population of up to 60 thousand people, i.e. with a high density, has about 84% Macedonians, while Albanians do not even reach 4% of the population. Karposh also has Serbs, who are almost as many as Albanians, respectively about 4%, and a small number of Roma.

This peripheral municipality is led by Sotir Lukrovski, a Macedonian nationalist of VRMO-DPMNE and Prime Minister Mickovsi, who has not deigned to include the Albanian language on the institution's official website, which is required by law.
