Former Minister of Defense, Fatmir Mediu, who faces justice as a defendant in the Gerdec explosion case, has today challenged before the Special Court the conclusions of the technical-military expertise presented by the group of experts.
At the court hearing, Mediu stressed that the orders of the General Staff of the Army are clear and show that the transportation of ammunition was not the responsibility of the Minister of Defense. According to him, in previous cases, these operations were carried out by the Armed Forces, without involving political decision-making in the technical aspect.
"According to the budget law, funds provided by donors for the dismantling process are considered part of the budget of the Ministry of Defense, regardless of whether they are grants or loans," Mediu said, emphasizing that it had no impact on operational issues such as transportation or military logistics.
