The GJKKO passed the "Partizani" file for trial, Klodiana Lala reveals

Journalist Klodiana Lala reports that the trial against former Prime Minister Sali Berisha at the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime will be a marathon.

Lala said that the trial could last up to 2 years since all persons questioned by SPAK as witnesses or defendants will be questioned in court sessions.

She emphasized that the DP leader may himself be present at the first session that will take place after the draw for the trial on the merits has been made.

"The preliminary hearing has been delayed for 7 months. Mr. Berisha will now face justice in a regular process, since they have not filed a request for a shortened trial. The file will be transferred to the merits, a draw will be made according to the law to another judge and the trial will begin from the beginning. This means that every person questioned by SPAK in the capacity of a witness or person with knowledge or a defendant, will give explanations before the court. Likewise, every accounting or financial expert report related to the privatization procedures of "Partizan" must also be subject to judicial review. Which means that it will take a very long time, 1 or 2 years, for the trial against the former Prime Minister and the other defendants to be completed in the first instance.

"It will be a marathon process that will require time and judicial review of each piece of evidence in the court file. The first session will be a session where all the media will be present. Mr. Berisha may be present at the session, to face justice, together with the other defendants ," Lala told "News24".
