The Special Court accepted today (April 17) the request of the Special Prosecution Office to extend the investigations against the former socialist MP, Jurgis Çyrbja, arrested since October 20, 2024, by another 3 months.
SPAK made this request during Tuesday's session, because it is awaiting several letters of request sent to partner agencies abroad, and the decision was made today.
The Special Prosecution Office has until July to conduct investigations into Jurgis Çyrbjan, who is being held in pre-trial detention with a prison arrest measure, after his conversations emerged on the encrypted SKY ECC platform with Altin Hajri of Shijak, who is wanted as the organizer of the kidnapping and disappearance resulting in the death of Jani Prengë on January 17, 2020 on the Kamëz-Shijak axis, in the premises of the "Golden" complex owned by him.
The former MP from Durres is accused of favoring members of the criminal organization through his interventions, changing their charges or releasing them from prison. SPAK also accuses him of leaking investigative and state secrets.
The former MP was arrested on October 20, 2024 in the city of Durrës, just one day before the arrest of the leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta. The GJKKO has issued a "prison arrest" measure against him, rejecting requests for its mitigation so far.
