The National Cyber ​​Security Authority (AKSK) has reacted to the cyber incident that affected some of the infrastructure and information systems of the Municipality of Tirana. Meanwhile, in the preliminary assessment of AKSK, it is stated that the cyber incident has caused disruptions in several digital services of the Municipality of Tirana, affecting applications and systems used by citizens and the administration.

"The National Cyber ​​Security Authority (AKSK) informs the public that today a cyber incident has been detected that has affected some of the infrastructures and information systems of the Municipality of Tirana. From the preliminary assessment, the incident has affected the normal functioning of some services and applications administered by this municipality ," the AKSK announcement states. 

While the exact nature of the attack has not yet been made public, sources from AKSK suggest that malware or a coordinated attack to compromise systems may have been involved. There is no confirmed information yet about a possible leak of citizens' personal data, but authorities are working to assess the full extent of the incident.

AKSK announces that immediately after being notified of the attack, in cooperation with the State Police and the National Agency for the Information Society (AKSHI), it has set up a dedicated working group, composed of cybersecurity experts. This group has immediately begun operations on the ground.

• Drafted initial recommendations for improving security and strengthening defense mechanisms in the relevant infrastructures ," the announcement states. 

The National Cyber ​​Security Authority has strongly condemned any act that violates critical information infrastructure, describing the attack as a threat to national security. It has also invited citizens and the media to refer only to official communication channels for accurate and confirmed information.
