The Special Prosecution Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) has sent a total of 156 requests for international legal assistance during 2025 to the judicial authorities of European countries, the region and several Latin American countries.
According to official data, these letters of request were sent in the framework of investigations into corruption, organized crime and terrorism. So far, 55 requests have been fully executed, 3 partially, while 97 requests are still in the process of execution by foreign authorities.
The country where SPAK has sent the largest number of requests is France with 55 letters of request, followed by the Netherlands with 12 and Italy with 8 requests.
Requests have also been sent to Kosovo (7), while Belgium, Greece and Switzerland have received 6 requests each.
Meanwhile, out of 5 requests for legal assistance, they were directed to Germany, Montenegro, Ecuador and Spain.
Likewise, the United States of America, the United Kingdom and Brazil have each received 4 requests, while Austria and Colombia have each received 3 requests.
The list of countries where SPAK has requested cooperation also includes Slovakia, North Macedonia and Turkey with 2 requests each, as well as Denmark, Bulgaria, Portugal, Serbia, Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Poland, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, Canada, Peru and Paraguay with 1 request each.
According to the report, the majority of these letters of request are related to drug trafficking within structured criminal groups, for which 45 requests have been sent. A significant number are also related to murder, unlawful deprivation of liberty and illegal possession of weapons, for which 39 requests for international legal assistance have been sent.
Other requests relate to laundering the proceeds of crime, corruption by public officials, terrorism, document forgery, smuggling, arms trafficking and human trafficking.
