Vasil Laçi, who lost his mother in the explosion of Gërdec that happened in 2008, has confessed today in front of SPAK, the horror experienced at that time.
In an interview for 'Euronews Albania', he stated that he was only 14 years old when he was employed at the dismantling factory.
He said that he started working in 2007, where he then took his mother and father. He further said that when the explosion happened, everyone left but his mother and father stayed inside. His mother died after 10 days in Italy, while his father remained in a coma for 9 months.
" In 2007, I started working in the dismantling factory. Then the shells came and then I took my mom and dad to work. Then came the explosion. Mom and Dad stayed inside. Mom was sent to Italy where she died after 10 days. Dad was in a coma for 9 months.
I ran away. We saw a flame burst out. I was 14 years old when I was hired. They didn't ask me for documents or anything. When I held a trial for compensation, I had Azem Hajdari's wife as judge, she told me who told me to come and work. Why did you go to work, he told me? I was needy. Why did the state allow us to enter and work? "If I was in this mindset, I would never go to work," said the 31-year-old.
