She was a scolding for Albanian politicians, Victoria Nuland leaves the US State

Who is Allison Hooker, who will serve as Under Secretary for Political Affairs at the State Department, a position that manages all regional offices of the State Department.

Victoria Nuland, who served as Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs at the US Department of State, has resigned from her position. Nuland has held important positions at the State Department for years, and has even been present in resolving political crises in Albania, especially in the periods 2014-2016 and onwards until 2019.

It is difficult to forget Nuland's visits to Tirana, whenever political parties were involved in strong clashes, while she appeared as an "iron fist" of the US to resolve Albanian disputes and crises.

In 2016, while serving as US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Nuland came to Albania, sealing the advancement of justice reform, while political parties seemed far from reaching a compromise for the approval of this reform, which was later followed by the establishment of SPAK, the special prosecution office that fought corruption at the highest levels.

At that time, with almost ultimatum language, Nuland asked Tirana to find the language and approve the Constitutional amendments for justice reform.

"I once again call on the political parties in Albania to find a solution as soon as possible and to vote on July 21 on the proposal supported by her for Justice Reform," was Nuland's message on July 20, 2016, one day before the Assembly approved the justice reform with 140 votes in favor.

So who will succeed Nuland as Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs at the State Department?

The position of Under Secretary for Political Affairs at the State Department is considered a key position due to the fact that it manages all of the regional offices of the State Department.

This position is expected to be held by Allison Hooker, who is a foreign policy and national security specialist with 20 years of experience in the US Government working in Asia.

Hooker was nominated by President Donald Trump and passed the first test in the Senate, that of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Allison served for more than six years on the National Security Council staff, including as Deputy Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Asia, where she led the coordination and implementation of U.S. policy toward the Indo-Pacific region and coordinated policy approaches with allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific and Europe.

Prior to that, Allison served as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for the Korean Peninsula, where she focused on U.S. policy toward the Koreas and staffed the President for all engagements with North and South Korea, including the U.S.-DPRK summits in Singapore, Hanoi, and the DMZ.

Prior to her service in the White House, Allison was a senior analyst for North Korea in the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research from 2001 to 2014.

Allison was selected as a 2013-2014 Council on Foreign Relations Fellow for International Affairs in South Korea, where she focused on South Korean Unification Policy. She received a Master of Arts degree in International Relations from George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Public Administration from Georgia College and State University.

Allison was also a researcher at Osaka University and Keio University, where she focused on Japan-Korea relations and Japan-China relations. /Pamphlet/
