The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, stated that organized crime threatened the family of a prosecutor.
The statement was said to have been made during a closed-door meeting, as part of a dialogue initiative between institutions and policy-making actors, "IDM Morning Briefing", organized by the Institute for Democracy and Mediation.
"Organized crime has threatened the family of a prosecutor. I am concerned about the threat from organized crime, not the threat from politics. We have also made sure not to return, because this is our duty, to investigate. Prosecutors are immune, they are all prepared to face these situations. After all, we have chosen this task ourselves", said Altin Dumani during the first meeting of the newest dialogue initiative between institutions and policy-making actors, "IDM Morning Briefing".
After this statement, journalist Klodian Tomorri ridiculed the head of SPAK.
"The director of SPAK has stated today that the family of a prosecutor has been threatened by organized crime.
The head of a special body as powerful as SPAK can make this statement publicly only on one occasion. When he judges that the government and the state are not providing adequate protection to the prosecutors. Is this the case? Mr. Dumani did not say this, he even took care to emphasize that politics has no hand.
In this case it seems like a silly statement. Even more so those selfless tones, which we are prepared not to return with.
SPAK has all the instruments, mechanisms and legal power to blow up anyone who thinks to threaten the prosecutors. Even in such cases, everything is done at discretion, without announcements or public statements until the risk is completely avoided.
What should the journalists say then, who are being threatened in a series of emails, are being blackmailed with writings and all kinds of forms, while neither the police nor the prosecution act. Journalists have neither police to protect them, nor pistols, nor the power to arrest people.
Who threatens the prosecutors, take them to task. Public statements are of no use in this case. If they don't spoil more work." writes the journalist.
