A 20-year-old man of Kosovo origin died on Sunday after a shooting in the city of Uppsala, Sweden. The victim has been identified as Gent (Milot) Maksutaj, from the village of Banjë i Istogu.
According to Swedish media reports, the incident is suspected to have been a planned execution. Based on preliminary information, the suspected perpetrator rode a bicycle to the scene and initially shot the 20-year-old. After the victim fell to the ground, he is suspected to have approached and shot him again.
After committing the crime, the suspect reportedly left the area by train towards Stockholm, where he was later arrested by Swedish police.
The Swedish prosecution has announced that a person under the age of 18 has been detained in connection with the incident. However, investigators do not rule out the possibility that other people may have participated in this murder.
The crime occurred on Sunday evening in the Kvarngärdet area of Uppsala, after police received a report of gunshots at around 9 p.m.
Swedish authorities are continuing their investigations to clarify the motive for the murder and have not yet confirmed whether the incident is related to organized crime groups.
