The hackers who attacked the website of the Institute of Statistics have deleted information on 6 computers.
In total, they appear to have infected 40 computers through the "Wiper" technique. The National Cyber Security and Electronic Certification Authority reports that the "Homeland Justice" hackers, sponsored by Iran, are behind the February 1 attacks on INSTAT.
At the end of the statement, AKCESK emphasizes the importance of a proactive and strategic response to sophisticated cyber threats.
We recall that the Iranian hacker group 'Homeland Justice' attacked the website of the Albanian Institute of Statistics on February 1.
The news was also confirmed by INSTAT, while it is emphasized that the Census data are not the object of this attack, as they are stored in other systems dedicated only for this purpose.
Meanwhile, the group of hackers in Telegram say that they managed to get 100 terabytes of data in INSTAT, which also includes the data of the Census.
"INSTAT is the biggest concealer of the truth. We now have full access to over 100 Terabytes of your GIS and registration data. The data has also been copied and removed from the servers. We will restore Justice to our homeland. All statistics are against you!", says the message published by the hackers.
After the hack, INSTAT's website is no longer accessible to citizens when they search for it on Google.
Sensitive data such as the number of bank accounts of administration employees were taken from the photos. They have published personal number, first name, last name, phone number, e-mail address, residential address, IBAN.
This cyber attack comes while INSTAT is processing data on the population census conducted at the end of last year, from which we expect to learn the current number of citizens of Albania as well as other data on income, religion, ethnicity, etc.
