Former prosecutor Ervin Karanxha said that there could have been other victims in the assassination attempt in Rinas, if a van had passed through there. He stated that the murder of Gilmando Dani could have had even greater consequences.
"Rinas is an area where people come in vans. There could have been a van there at that moment, other people could have been killed. So, we could have had consequences. The other person could have been in the hotel drinking coffee. It's great luck, God has held our hand because we have seen many other events. The time for professionals to finish their work is gone. The murder was committed in a way that was dangerous for the lives of many people. So, the lives of citizens were endangered," Karanxha told "A2 CNN".
The former prosecutor emphasized that today the police are not pursuing the perpetrator, and there are even no arrests in flagrante delicto.
"Maybe the State Police also needs to learn how ready groups function. I remember that when an event occurred in Tirana, all four police stations would stand up and follow the perpetrator. Today, we are not seeing the perpetrator being followed and one perpetrator who was caught red-handed, if we consider the murder of Judge Astrit Kalaja, he stood up himself and said "I'm here". That is not called being caught red-handed. I think that the structure should also change, the ready groups should be made as they were before, so that they can be quick to control the territory in time", he concluded.
