President Emmanuel Macron has postponed his arrival in Tirana to Monday, and the reason for this is a terrorist attack in Arras (France) where a teacher was killed and the situation in the Middle East.
According to French media, Macron was initially expected on Monday morning to arrive in Albania to participate in the 9th summit of the Berlin process, which brings together the leaders of the Western Balkans and several European countries to promote political dialogue, cooperation and reconciliation in the region, as well as rapprochement with the European Union.
It is learned that Macron will come to Albania tomorrow afternoon, since the French president has not canceled the official visit to Tirana for Tuesday.
For the first time, the summit of the Berlin Process will be held outside the borders of the European Union and Tirana has been chosen to organize this summit.
The participation of the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, as well as the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, has so far been confirmed at the summit.
Meanwhile, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has arrived in our country today, who was received at Rinas airport by Minister Elisa Spiropali and the EU Ambassador in Tirana, Luigi Soreca.
Before the summit, Von der Leyen met with President Bajram Begaj. He then met with Prime Minister Edi Rama and both of them participated in the opening ceremony of the third branch of the European College of Bruges in Tirana.
