The murder of 22-year-old Ilaria Sula by her ex-boyfriend in the Italian state has shocked her family and not only them.
The 22-year-old's grandfather, in a reaction to the show "With an Open Heart", also revealed the last time he communicated with his granddaughter.
"The family's situation is not good. The police now have Ilaria's phone. I haven't communicated with either my son or my daughter-in-law for a week."
The last time Ilarian and I met was for New Year's. When it was my birthday in July, we all got together, it was my pleasure, we were all there.
"She was a good student and had a good relationship with her friends. She wasn't open about telling us that she had a boyfriend," said the 22-year-old's grandfather.
How was the monstrous crime discovered?
The suitcase containing the girl's remains was found in a wooded area near Prestiini, in the municipality of Politini. Ilaria was allegedly stabbed to death and then locked in a suitcase in an attempt to hide her body. After the crime, the 23-year-old perpetrator used the young woman's phone to post fictitious stories on Ilaria's social media profiles, who was trying to deceive and cover his tracks by giving the idea that she left his apartment willingly and that she was alive. He then allegedly threw the phone into a well. Her friends had noticed Ilaria's social activity, but she had never responded to their calls or messages.
