Various attacks on social networks against Ben Blushi for the novel "I am Muslim"
Ben Blushi's newest book, "I am Muslim," has not been well received by a group of "Islamists."
Although the book has only been released today and not everyone has read it to truly understand what the author has written, a large number of people on social media have launched an attack, attacking Blushi and even calling for his novel to be burned.
Blushi himself, on Monday, gave a lengthy explanation about what the book brings. On the contrary, he does not curse Islamism, in fact he criticizes those "radicals."
For those who haven't read it, in a nutshell, the novel describes an atheist writer who lives on Kavaja Street, who lives with a second wife. Sharia law is imposed in the neighborhood, where punishments for immorality begin. The writer and his wife go to Arabia and Mecca. In Arabia, he sees that Muslims are not extremists. When he returns, he is asked to account for why he went to Mecca without their permission and in the end he chooses to be a Muslim and not an extremist.
But even though the message is clear, dozens of citizens have flooded social networks and attacked Blushi. One even wants the book to be burned: " When he saw that the books after his most famous book have neither reading nor interest, he comes with the book 'Jam Musliman', to incite division, Islamophobia and cynicism towards Muslims, and by arousing the curiosity of the Albanian-speaking reader, they will buy it to read what the failure of the novel and politics has digested and what he has imagined. I invite my brothers and sisters not to buy it, even those who can afford to buy more and burn it in front of his doors, or in the trash can near his house, so that he understands that trash ends up in the trash can ."
Another goes to the extreme: " With the same accusations of fanaticism and Islamic radicalism, just like Beni, Slobodan Milosevic laid the foundation for genocide and monstrous crimes in Bosnia and Kosovo for the eradication of Islam in the Balkans, a slogan that sounded interesting and very exciting for Occidentalists and neo-Byzantine storytellers of the level of Blushi ."
Others call him a provocateur, while there are also those who have attacked him on behalf of his father or grandfather, both prominent figures in literature. The other element is that some of those who attack him are not from Albania at all; some live in Kosovo and Macedonia, some in other countries.
But the question that arises is: why do we have to be so aggressive? Of course, everyone is free to have their own opinion, as with any book and writer, but there is no need for it to turn into a religious debate.
Blushi himself has given his explanation. " The entire novel is a metaphor for a man who seeks salvation in religion, after having lost faith in society, and not a war against Islam. I live with a Muslim, my grandmother was a Muslim. How can I be against Muslims? 'I am a Muslim' was written to show that our rights are being violated, not to attack religion ," said Ben Blushi at the novel's presentation.
He also had a message for critics: " Reading the reactions on social media every day, I understand the violence I live in, a violence that comes from a minority of people who judge me for what I am not: racist or xenophobic. This book was written precisely for this reason ," he added. /Pamphlet
