Activist Edlira Çepani, through a late writing, remembers her husband, former MP Gert Bogdani, who tragically passed away a few weeks ago.
" I started to write two words hundreds of times... but I had no strength either in my hands or in my heart.
For so many days, I have a word in my heart that I want to say to everyone. Thank you for your endless support during these difficult times for our family!
Thank you for the thousands of hugs with which we express our support and respect for Gerti, during the endless tributes in the Albanian parliament. Thank you to all friends, colleagues, citizens and supporters who came in record time from all over Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Macedonia and from many countries of the world, to support us on our most difficult day. Thank you for waiting for hours in the long lines of tributes to pay our respects to our Gert and bid him a final farewell.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all colleagues from the institutions in Albania, Kosovo, Belgium and the United States of America for honoring with 1 minute of silence in the first meetings after Gerti's death and for the official telegrams honoring him.
Thanks to all media friends for the shows, words and marathon broadcasts.
Thank you all for the tens of thousands of messages (which I promise to answer all of them, little by little) through which you shared a little of our pain and gave us little stories of Gert's life as you knew him. The more people we meet these days, the more we realize how many people he impacted in his very short life, but filled with love for people and modesty for everything he did (and never promoted it enough).
The more days pass since your departure, Gert, the pain seems to increase in this new reality, without you physically among us...but the endless love and support of the people who loved you, is a great support for us!
You lived life, with the power of values. You fought all your life to give a different model, among friends, in family, everywhere. You fought all your life with a rare tenacity to do your job, in the service of people. You fought all your life to show that values should prevail even when it seems impossible. You won your battle! Your kindness and values brought people together!!
You won, as you always did in life, this time you reminded us all that, even in this world that is becoming more and more difficult every day, it is worth living with values, with integrity, with dignity, with nobility, with faith, kindness and love for people! Thank you for being a light on the path of so many people and that you will always be a light on our path, my life !" wrote Çepanin.
