Journalist Artan Hoxha has shed light on the various ways that some individuals, including well-known showbiz figures, are used to enter prisons.
In an interview with Euronews Albania, Hoxha made some strong statements, where he spoke about specific cases and how it works. He said that a few years ago, girls entered the prison as psychologists and held meetings with prisoners for money. Further, Hoxha stated that there are some cases where they have even had children in prison.
"A few years ago there was a different way, they would come in as psychologists or trainers. We come to the other problem that then the psychologists had to be changed because they had problems. Those who are inside use 1,000 forms, especially those who have money. A well-known showbiz character does not go there because they love him. It is not surprising, because after all, they have created and had children in prison," said Hoxha.
According to him, there is a process that must be followed for approving such visits, but even this process can be deviated.
"There is also someone who gives the approval, and in fact, this matter should be followed as to who gives it from the institution. Convicts have the right to have such meetings. Detainees do not," he said.
The journalist also noted the influence of financial power and connections outside the cell in enabling these contacts.
"Those who have entered now, those who are the bosses, it must be said that they have a large budget. Having a large amount of money and since they have their infrastructure abroad, they have the contacts and they tell them to go there and they go. They do not have fixed rates, it depends on who calls you and where you go," Hoxha emphasized.
