The High Prosecutorial Council (KLP) meets today, at 11:00, to hold the final vote on the appointment of the new head of the National Bureau of Investigation (BKH). The commission established by SPAK proposed Joni Keta for this position for a 5-year mandate on November 26.
The commission composed of Altin Dumani, Arben Kraja and Behar Dibra concluded that Joni Keta met all the criteria for leading the institution, being assessed as the most suitable among the six candidates who had passed all the selection stages.
Joni Keta, 37 years old, has previously held leadership positions within the BKH and currently serves as the acting head of this institution.
With today's vote, the KLP is expected to finalize the selection process for the new head of the BKH, a key position for proactive investigations and operational activity against corruption and organized crime.
There were seven candidates in the race for the leadership of the Bureau: Andi Pogaçe, Artur Beu, Elton Kërluku, Gentian Ndoi, Gentjan Shehaj, Gledis Nano and Joni Keta.
The BKH has been without a leader since August 31, when Aida Hajnaj's five-year mandate ended. The vacancy was prolonged due to delays in the verification process, as a result of waiting for documentation from various state and international institutions.
