In an interview, lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu analyzed the opposition's protests in support of former prime minister Sali Berisha.
Spahiu said that he thought that the moment Berisha was arrested, the country's squares would be filled in support of him.
He added that the cause of the former prime minister has declined and no longer inspires people, causing Fredi Beleri to gather more people at his grandmother's funeral than Berisha at the time of his arrest.
He underlined that a leader who came to power with 1.2 million votes has died after 33 years with 120 people who are close to him.
"The opposition lost in its strongholds, where for 33 years it had the strongest support of militants and activists. This has no political logic and Albania does not have its own comparisons. I expected that in the moments when Berisha would be arrested, the squares would be full, I did not expect that Fredi Beleri at his grandmother's funeral would gather more people than Berisha at his arrest. This is unimaginable and it is enough to analyze. If you look at the shopping centers, they are 100 times more crowded for shopping for the New Year than with the Berisha rally. Seeing the queue for the turkey with the participation in the protests of Berisha's cause is incomparable. It is depressing to see how a leader who came with 1,200,000 votes is reduced to 120 people" , said Spahiu in "Euronews".
