The atmosphere at the end of every year in every city in Albania is not expected to be complete without fireworks, and their sale is prohibited.
Festive fireworks bring atmosphere but also dangers.
Every year, there are incidents that endanger the health of the people who use them, but are also a source of fires in homes and businesses.
To avoid such incidents, these substances must be used according to certain protocols.
"Used by people over 12 years old. Allowed categories should be used because the larger ones are dangerous both for noise and chemicals. Used in open spaces, not in homes because they cause tent fires, we have always had incidents," said the director of the fire department in Tirana, Shkëlqim Goxhaj.
The way they are traded also has special specificities. For this reason, the police have carried out controls in the markets, seizing significant quantities of these substances.
"They seem to be traded only in enclosed spaces, not in open markets, because even a small incident can have serious consequences," said Goxhaj.
A fireworks show will also be organized by the capital's municipality on New Year's Eve at Skanderbeg Square, where the fire service will be present to provide the necessary assistance.
