Following the latest statement by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who warned that candidate Hatixhe Hoxha will withdraw from the race if LDK brings forward its own candidate, journalist Mentor Nazarko has commented on the political impasse created in Kosovo over the election of the president.
In his view, Nazarko emphasizes that Kurti is playing tactically and waiting for mid-July for the diaspora vote.
" In respect of your show, I must say that Mr. Kurti is playing with tactical mastery, unique as it is in his tradition. He is playing brilliantly tactically, but he is also controlling the narrative in an excellent way. He also probably says he will violate this decision of the constitutional court. So he will give Kosovo a president who is elected in violation of this decision of the 2011 constitutional court. The opposition will complain, a few weeks of time will be gained and he will arrive, he will wait in mid-July when the diaspora comes. So, he is playing on this track ," Nazarko said on Off the Record on A2 CNN.
On the other hand, Nazarko emphasizes that the opposition has failed to create a unique stance on the presidential candidacy, weakening its position. According to him, the only strong card for the opposition was the affirmation of Vjosa Osmani.
" What is the opposition doing? The opposition is not showing unity. This is absurd. That is, despite the fact that there are three parties, the three of them should have agreed with each other, had a unique position. had a unique position and in contrast to what Kurti says, but also in choosing a candidate by playing bluff, bluffing or playing chess. This is a kind of chess, tactics. The opposition is not doing this. It is telling the people of Kosovo who do not understand much. The people do not understand much of these decisions of the Constitutional Court, no matter how detailed they are, that you see that they will take them for themselves. But politicians want to take them for themselves, prime ministers want to have presidents under their orders. There is nothing new here. I see that the opposition is very weak tactically, it is very weak in the narrative and the only card it had, it still has but I don't know is the lack of time. The only strong card was and that a compromise could be made was the candidacy of Osman. So instead of joining this figure and giving him the chance to say do you really want three candidates? We are giving you only one and but there should not be other fictitious candidates like these ladies that you appointed with great solemnity. So there should only be one candidate. This shows that you are respecting us and it is a competition with only one candidate , "said Nazarko.
Praising the figure of Vjosa Osmani, he says that she has saved Kurti from being non grata in the USA.
" If the opposition does not respect the candidate in the first two rounds, then in the third round they choose him with 50% plus one. I choose him with 61. So the opposition is not respected at all. In my opinion, Osman's affirmation was a bluff. But you told Kurti why you don't like Osman? Osman is someone who has preserved the Euro-Atlantic axis of Kosovo. An axis that the prime minister has probably tried to shift at times. Osman has saved Kurti from being non grata in the USA ," he added.
