Criminology professor Ervin Karamuço spoke about the murder of the Mujeci couple in Lezha. He said that one of the vehicles used by the perpetrators was rented and equipped with GPS, which helped the police track them down.
"The number may increase in the ongoing investigations, one of the cars was rented in Rinas and also had GPS, although they tried to deactivate it, DNA profiles were found, devices inside that constitute evidence for the investigations. Two of them were companions," Karamuço told "Euronews Albania".
According to him, the suspected perpetrator of the shooting is a person wanted for another attempted murder in Shkodra, while questions still remain about his knowledge of his wife's presence in the vehicle.
"The shooter was wanted for another attempted murder in Shkodra. There were versions that they knew he had his wife in the car, as the victim's Audi had black windows," said Karamuço.
The expert added that by following the vehicle on several roads, the perpetrators may have been aware of the victim's movements, while the use of a powerful weapon made it impossible to avoid the consequences.
"Two bloodsheds have been opened... this opens another saga where clashes are expected again. The perpetrators also used the fact that the perpetrator was very publicly exposed as a provocation ," he declared.
According to the professor, the event risks escalating conflicts in the area, increasing the number of families at risk and existing tensions.
