Former SP MP Andis Harasani passed away at the age of 54. The former MP was suffering from cancer, a battle he could not defeat.
Andis Harasani was elected as a member of parliament twice, in the 2005 and 2009 elections. From September 2002 to July 2005, he held the position of director of the Albanian Electric Power Corporation (KESH).
He managed to defeat the Democratic candidate Shaban Memija in unit no. 4 and was one of the few Socialists to win in the capital, where he also received his first mandate as an MP. After the change in the Socialist leadership after losing the elections, he was again one of Edi Rama's candidates in Tirana.
In 2009, Harasani won a second parliamentary term, but he would not complete it. In 2012, just a year before the general elections that would also mark the return of the Socialists to power, he decided to leave the mandate, citing personal reasons.
After leaving political life, he moved with his family to the US. Although away from public life, he was present on social networks as a harsh critic of the Socialist Party.
