The Prosecutor's Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime has closed the investigation into the drug laboratory in Frakull of Fier, owned by the Červanaku family.
It is expected that the SPAK, after taking the stand of the parties under the charge, will address the court with the request to proceed to trial the file in charge of the former mayor, Viktor Červenaku, his brother Zenel Červenaku, the son, Denilson Červinaku and the fiancee of the latter Enxhi Ferhati, as well as citizens Nikolin Gjolena who is suspected to be the head of the group, Klajdi Vrioni, Julian Malaj, Redion Meshi, Bledar Matoshi and Marildo Rona.
Sources near SPAK confirm that the investigations within this criminal proceeding have provided strong indications for other persons involved in criminal activity, but remain reserved for names and roles.
We remind you that in the yard of Viktor Cervanaku's apartment, about 600 bags of chemical fertilizer were found, which after the expertise showed that it contained about 485.5 kg of cocaine coming from Colombia.
The drug was discovered by a well-organized action by SPAK, DEA and the Montenegrin police, after an investigation of about 3 months.
The drug came from Colombia, while in Albania it was processed for the European market. Two of its Colombian handlers managed to escape and have not yet been caught more than 12 months after the operation.
Itinerary
The amount of chemical fertilizer where the cocaine was hidden was loaded in May 2022 into a container in Colombia and via a transport ship it left for the port of Piraeus/Greece where it arrived at the beginning of July 2022. From there by transport ship after 3 days was sent to the port of Tivar in Montenegro and was transported to Albania by truck in September 2022.
All the while, this cargo was kept under 24-hour surveillance by the authorities. This is in order to fully identify the collaborators, who have participated in the preparation of the documentation about the opening in Albania of the company that would carry out the transportation and delivery of the "load" in which the narcotic substance of the cocaine type was suspected to have been mixed, the payments carried out for its purchase, transportation and customs clearance, the persons who would take care of the reception and delivery of the cargo in Albania, the persons who would take care of the keeping, storage and extraction of the suspected narcotic substance from the amount of "organic fertilizer", and who were the specialized persons who would enable this process to be carried out.
The observation showed that the drug had been moved to different premises in Albania, from where it was possible to seize it in Frakull e Madhe in Fier.
Červanaku opened the chemical fertilizer trading company 5 months before the cocaine was sent from Colombia
To order the drug from Colombia, Zenel Červanaku had taken the measures from the beginning. On January 19, 2022, i.e. 5 months before the drugs were loaded in Colombia, Červanaku also opened a company dealing with the trading of chemical fertilizers. This detail helps to understand why the amount of cocaine was hidden in bags of chemical waste. As it is known, the drug was hidden in 20 pallets with about 24 tons of "chemical fertilizer". In the scanner of the Port of Tivari, the amount of chemical fertilizer cargo came out clean, but after suspicions, a physical check was made where the drug was discovered, but it was allowed to go to the final destination to reach the customer.
Who are the arrested?
Arrested for the cocaine laboratory in Frakull of Fier, but some of them are well known to the public and the police. In addition to Zenel and Viktor Červanaku, who previously served as the head of the municipality, his son Denilson Červanaku, together with his fiancee, Enxhi Ferhati, was arrested.
Klajdi Kodra, also known by the surname Vrioni, was previously convicted for illegal possession of weapons, assassination and wounding. He is the son of the well-known former Albanian shooter, Lindita Kodra. He was arrested in Tirana after he was caught with 3 others at gunpoint in a 'Range Rover' type car, together with Redion Meshi and Bledar Matoshi.
