The focus of the conversation was on bilateral relations and cooperation in the defense industry.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, during which they discussed bilateral relations, as well as regional and international developments.
According to a statement from the Turkish Presidency's Communications Directorate, the two leaders reviewed the progress of cooperation between Turkey and Italy, as well as current international and regional issues.
Erdogan stressed that efforts to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries continue in a number of sectors, with a special focus on the defense industry. He also underlined the importance of undertaking new initiatives that will give further impetus to bilateral relations.
During the conversation, issues related to NATO were also discussed. Erdogan stated that Turkey expects that the NATO Leaders' Summit, which will be hosted by Turkey, will further strengthen solidarity and cooperation between allied countries.
