Right-wing councilor in the Municipality of Tirana, Xhonatan Pano, invited to the Quo Vadis show, commented on yesterday's vote on the draft law on gender equality.
He said that, according to a survey conducted recently, in which 10,000 Albanians participated, 91.1% of them are in favor of the traditional family and even against EU integration if the condition were to allow same-sex marriages.
Excerpts from the conversation:
Pano: We conducted a national survey with over 10,000 people. For such a survey, about 4,000 people would be enough, but in less than 20 hours, 10,000 people participated and responded.
Journalist: What were they asked about?
Pano: On the concept of family. 97% of Albanians define the male and female gender, as well as the traditional family. 96% think that the definitions “parent 1” and “parent 2” would create confusion. 92.1% are against the legalization of same-sex marriages. While 91.1% of respondents stated that, if same-sex marriages were a condition for EU integration, then they would not want integration.
