Lake Shkodra part of UNESCO, Albania submits application

Albania has applied to include Lake Skadar in UNESCO.

This was announced by the Minister of Environment, Sofjan Jaupaj, during the "For You Nature" event, as he said that the file was submitted a few weeks ago.

" The Ministry of Environment and the National Agency for Protected Areas submitted a few weeks ago the application file for the inclusion of Lake Shkodra in UNESCO, another natural asset of Albania will join the UNESCO world heritage ," said Minister Jaupaj.

If declared a UNESCO protected area, Lake Shkodra will benefit from higher standards of management and cooperation between the two countries.

Lake Skadar is the largest on the Balkan Peninsula and lies on the border between Albania and Montenegro.

It is considered one of the most important tourist centers in the region.
