Journalist Erl Murati spoke about SPAK's accusations against former Prime Minister Berisha. He said that the consequences of putting Berisha under investigation for corruption, politically, the opposition is also suffering.
In an interview for "Abc News", Murati said that Berisha should reflect, but also opposition MPs.
Regarding the statement of Ilir Meta, who defended Berisha, Murati declared that they have linked their political fate.
"It is no longer a secret that the chairman of the Freedom Party, Mr. Meta, as well as Mr. Berisha, has maintained a constant position against the reform in justice and against new institutions of justice, such as SPAK. In this sense, there is no surprise regarding the stance of Ilir Meta in favor of Berisha. They are two experienced politicians who have linked their political fate. In the May 14 elections, we saw that they are practically in an electoral coalition, but they are definitely also in a post-electoral coalition. Both are in opposition.
As for his statement, that this is a political attack on Mr. Berisha, I am not surprised, because every politician who has been hit by the new justice system, but also by the old one, has declared that the attacks by the justice system are political attacks. The fact remains that there is an official accusation from the Special Prosecutor's Office for corruption, which from a political point of view is also attached to the public position of the USA that has declared Berisha non grata for corruption.
Today, the leader of the opposition is accused of corruption not only by international partners, but also from a criminal point of view, by the Special Prosecutor's Office, and the political consequences are being suffered by him and the entire opposition. Having such a big burden and being the political leader of the opposition definitely requires a reflection from Berisha himself. From a political point of view, whether Berisha is guilty or not, the fact that there is an official charge against him, by SPAK, requires a reflection from Berisha himself, but also from the entire opposition, to change something, if he aims to in 2025 to defeat SP, a reflection is required. Politically, there should be a reflection" , said Murati.
