The Court of Appeal has decided to sentence notary Rezarta Koçi to 12 years in prison, who, taking advantage of the shortened trial, will serve 8 years in prison. The notary was arrested on February 4, 2022.
The investigations had started after 4 reports were made by different citizens against the notary, but according to the information she was arrested only for one of them, where she was reported for fraud.
The investigations showed that the 40-year-old notary, while preparing the documentation, did not open a frozen bank account for the transfer of money from the buyer to the seller, but used her personal account contrary to the law.
Kochi's frauds were discovered by the citizens who were the selling party, since they did not receive any amount of money even though the certificate of the house or business they were selling was in the name of the buying party.
Koçi deceived her clients by telling them that she would pass them day by day. Referring to the reports, the number of citizens defrauded by the notary is quite high, where the sums that it has appropriated reach large values.
