Member of the National Council of the Democratic Party (DP), Adriana Kalaja, stated that she has asked the leader of the DP, Sali Berisha, to be the opposition candidate for the municipality of Tirana in the local by-elections.
But she explained that this initiative of hers was neither a desire nor an adventure, but came after a dominant part of the DP refused to accept running.
Kalaja told how she was welcomed by the DP, as a member of the National Council.
" For the nature I have, it seems like I do things for the sake of protagonism, but I take it seriously. I am one of the only ones in the DP who not only does not receive a salary, but I do everything at my own expense. I felt a rejection, doors slamming, disengagement, I felt this blockade, I was not included in the working groups, while I was the first to protest ," declared Adriana Kalaja, invited to "Oponencje".
Regarding the candidate that the opposition will support for the Tirana municipal elections, Adriana Kalaja is against it and has sent a request to the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, for this.
" I stood up at the meeting and told the doctor that this was a wrong decision. Not even a week ago, I sent him a request in my capacity as the president of the DP that the choice to accept a candidate from outside the party is unconstitutional. This is my position ," said Kalaja.
Adriana Kalaja: It was the day I had just gone to the doctor's office, and the most dominant part that they had to do, they were refusing to do, this was not a desire or an adventure. I gave the doctor my picture, above all for that battle that I had fought for Tirana, against Erion Veliaj. Even more so than me in 2022 I had been part of the Primaries for Tirana.
Then I was left in 24th place, not even out of modesty, but I don't know that from 1 to 23 they had made any contribution to Tirana.
I am not on the City Council but I have continued my work. I call politics moral, if it may seem protagonism and unbelievable, that is how I am and I have taken this oath for myself.
Most thought that after May 11th I would stop and feel somewhat abandoned.
I know what happens in the DP, when it's election time, there's no room for cars, not even in the cafe, they rip off their jackets and everyone comes to take the post. But it's normal. What worries me is that I don't want to be part of the fight on Facebook.
In every meeting I am the most critical voice and towards those who were included in the safe lists, when we took the road to the municipality, they were sitting in the cafe. When half of the members of the national council do not come to the meetings, to the protests, open your arms a little.

Mos ik ti japësh mënd Doktorit. Mos i thirrë burrat dhe gratë e kupolës së PD, në shesh të 'burrave'. Mos kërko mbështetje nga qytetarët e Tiranës, për sa kohë të perceptojnë si 'bisht' i kupolës dhe Gjyqtare e Partisë. Pluralizmi politik në Shqipëri duhet rithemeluar. Të dyja partitë kryesore dhe bishtrat e tyre, duhen nxjerrë jashtë ligjit për sa kohë 'kupolat', janë të kapura nga korrupsioni dhe me lidhje kriminale. Nëse do delnin jashtë ligjit , do isha shumë kurioz të dija që do shërbeje si gjyqtare e partisë, apo do i bëje paçet(munxat) PD. PD dhe PS kanë vetëm një rrugë që të mbijetojnë në tregun politik. Të ndryshojnë edhe emrin nga "PD" në: 'Partia Demokratike e Rindërtuar'. PS duhet të ndryshojë emrin nga PS dmth nga Partia e Punës në: 'Partia e Majtë Demokratike'. A ka gjasa që ky rithemelim të bëhet? Aspak. Ndaj shkrirja e tyre si kripa në ujë ,është domosdoshmëri historike.
