Italian journalist talks about Albanian media...
RAI investigative journalist Sigfrido Ranucci spoke today about the assassination attempt that took place a few days ago, focusing on the allegations that Albanian groups are behind it.
He spoke to "Now" on Euronews Albania, giving details of the attack, but was also asked about the rumors that Artur Shehu or other people connected to Albanian groups were involved. The journalist himself declared himself skeptical about the involvement of Albanians, since according to him, he had denounced them years ago and there was no reason for them to retaliate now.
-How did the attack on you happen?
It was 10 pm on Thursday when this explosive, containing a kilo of explosives and made by an expert, exploded; it was placed in my car, where my car and my daughter's car exploded. It happened after my daughter had returned home; fortunately, nothing happened to her. But its power could have killed us. This is my little doubt at this moment, because I do not understand what the purpose, reason or meaning was. It was placed at a point where I often pass. The message that they probably want to give is that we can shoot you at any moment. The purpose is to scare us, but this is an impossible mission.
-How do you view the reports that Albanian groups are involved? Do you think the attack is related to them?
At this moment I have no evidence to say this. It seems strange to me that such an act was committed 1 year after those investigations we conducted, because that topic would be reopened. I do not believe that the Albanian mafia is so idiotic as to reopen old cases. I have no clear idea why this action helped. But it could have something to do with the investigations we conducted or a message that was not addressed to me, but to someone else through me. But this needs a more careful analysis.
-So you're saying that Artur Sheu, who you mentioned in the investigations, has no connection?
I have no evidence to prove this fact and I would say something baseless. I have no reason to think that this act is related to him.
-What is the truth about the threats we received after the centers in Gjadra?
We have received a threat from an international lawyer who was contacted by some exponents of a Mexican cartel who had business with Albanian drug traffickers. This was in the messages that we submitted to the prosecutor's office in Rome and are under investigation.
