She said that her husband, who is already in prison serving his sentence, cursed her all the time and accused her of extramarital affairs. Today, Shaqja has three sons, but she confesses that she lost a daughter when she was pregnant, precisely because of violence.
" He killed my child, a girl. He killed me by beating me, I don't need your bastards, he said, I was pregnant. I accidentally got pregnant with that girl, I was 7 months old.
I had three children with him so I wouldn't get close to him, he was a drunkard, he told me you have a bastard, you have a lover ", said Shaqja.
After he raped her every night in the late hours when he returned home, he also broke her phone so that she could not communicate with the police. This is the third time that Shaqe's husband is serving time for domestic violence behind bars.
Shaqja said that she got married at the age of 30 and her family didn't want to marry her because she was very hardworking. The moment she was encouraged was when she heard her brother's daughter-in-law, with whom she does not speak today, who said "let's not marry her so she can raise our children".
" Why am I raising my brother's or my brother's daughter-in-law's child since they still don't talk to me on the phone today? You said better to be calm, create a family and be a man for good, it turned out worse for me than ever. The hell connected me with that pukjan ", said Shaqja.
About the husband who raped her, she said that today he is in prison serving his sentence because he denounced him.
" The first time he went to prison for 7 months for domestic violence. He beat me, broke my phone so I wouldn't contact the police. The second time he spent another year in prison ", said Shaqja. Shaqe Balliu confessed the difficult conditions in which she had to live and raise her children.
She confesses that she was forced to leave one of the boys alone, tied to the cradle so that he could leave the house because they had nothing to eat, with the fear that snakes could also enter the house.
She said that the man used to abuse her and because of the beating from him, she had a miscarriage when she was pregnant.
" Children do not know a chocolate from their father. Children don't like it either. They don't even want to meet him in prison. I worked all day to feed the children. When they gave me 10,000 ALL, it seemed to me like I was getting 100 million ALL. After being imprisoned, he fled to France. I was about 43 years old, 5 years ago. Before I left, I worked in the neighborhood, working the land for 10,000 Lek.
I tied the boy to the cradle and ran away because if I left him on the bed he would fall. He was safer in the cradle, I also threw a woolen blanket over him so that the snakes wouldn't suffocate him. I could not take the boy in the van because the man told the van driver that the boy has lice. I wanted to kill myself several times. Then my sister took me to France and I stayed for 1 year and a half. They brought me in handcuffs because my husband denounced me for taking toads ," said the woman.
