A teacher, a security officer, and a municipal police officer testified in criminal court, where they told about previous fights between students at Fan Noli School, disputes that culminated in the murder of the child Martin Cani.
As Anila Hoxha informed the court, which is being held behind closed doors due to the minor age of the accused Mario Përlleshaj and the injured person, security officer Jetmira Kuka told the court that the school teacher, Klodiana Saliasi, had told her about some students who had spoken in high tones and that they were discussing this conversation in the toilet.
"I went and saw that the students were no longer in the toilet and so I called the student Martin Cani who told me that he had spoken loudly, had cursed. But then Mario took this personally and they had an argument. I called Mario and he explained to me that there was no problem between them and that they were fine," the security officer testified.
The accused in this case was not present during the session. The trial was postponed until July 14. The judge decided to re-notify the 14-year-old suspected perpetrator of the incident, as he is expected to be questioned about the case, or to refuse the request to be questioned.
We recall that the incident in question shocked the entire public opinion regarding the safety of children in schools and beyond. The murder of the 14-year-old caused the Albanian government to initiate a consultation with parents in schools and then to impose a one-year ban on the TikTok application in Albania.
