Prices are driving them towards bankruptcy, farmers in Dimal and Roskovec warn

Farmers from Dimal and Roskovec protested this afternoon in the village of Samatica, opposing the low prices at which, according to them, collection points are purchasing agricultural products.

They point out that the price of cucumbers has dropped to around 60 lek per kilogram and is constantly changing from day to day, increasing income uncertainty.

Outraged by the situation, farmers say they are coming out of a difficult flood season without receiving any compensation, while demanding immediate intervention from the state to regulate the market.

"If this continues, we will boycott production, close the greenhouses and take the path of emigration," the protesters said.

Farmers from several villages in the two municipalities, whose main source of income is agriculture, joined the protest. According to them, around 500 hectares of land planted with seasonal products, mainly for export, are at risk.

Farmers warn that this is only the first phase of the reaction and, if there are no concrete solutions from the institutions, the protests will escalate in the coming days.
