Minister Ulsi Manja reacts to the approval of the Criminal Amnesty: Yesterday it
Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja

The Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, has reacted again through social networks regarding yesterday's vote of the Assembly, which with 100 votes in favor approved the Criminal Amnesty draft, through which dozens of convicts in Albanian prisons are freed.

Manja says that he is proud of the approval of Amnesty because it is one of the few political traditions that has been preserved in that hall that unites them with the opposition.

Manja's reaction.

Yesterday, the Parliament of Albania voted on the criminal amnesty law!

I warned at the beginning of this parliamentary session that the amnesty would pass with over 100 votes. When the respected journalists asked me in the courtyard of the Parliament of Albania "where will you find the votes", I answered with conviction that the votes are inside this hall and I pointed my finger at the hall of plenary sessions.

As Minister of Justice, I have proposed the law in the government with the hope of receiving the same support in the parliament from MPs of all political persuasions.

I wanted to preserve the good tradition that has dominated in that hall, how many times have there been votes for criminal amnesty across the political trenches, so that I was not the "culprit" of the destruction of this good tradition, one of the few that has been preserved in that hall, from the kind of politics and mud culture that that hall has planted in the eyes of the Albanians.

Also, I wanted the work of the experts who worked on the amnesty draft to be respected and away from any political influence, to ensure an act of mercy for those who have fallen into conflict with the criminal law, as guaranteed by the Constitution and the law.

Yesterday, this happened in the Parliament of Albania! Amnesty received 116 votes in favor in principle, we preserved the good tradition of that hall and voted for a legal product made by experts in the field!

But, that hall will certainly not lack the political backstage and the born souls who see the "devil" even where humanity and mercy are the only purpose of an amnesty law!

Yesterday, it was clearly seen who used the vote for the purposes of the law and who used it for politics. Doing politics with the plight of another is the lowest thing for a human being who instead of a heart, god knows what he has!

As Minister of Justice, today I feel proud that, with patience and persistence, 116 legislators voted for the amnesty law that we passed in the government with zero benefits for SPAK and GJKKO subjects!

Therefore, today I feel it my duty to thank my colleagues in the government and parliament who gave me their trust and supported me to the end, without wavering at any moment with their vote, the opposition MPs who joined the vote with us and the media for sensitizing each of us about the necessity of amnesty after an absence of more than 4 years from the last amnesty of 2020.

Now, it is up to those charged by the law to correctly and without delay implement this long-awaited amnesty and perhaps the only one that has been debated politically and in the media!

Anyway, endless gratitude to everyone who supported this act of humanity, which will by no means be the last for that hall!
