Criminalist expert Ervin Karamuço has spoken about the request of Ervis Martinaj's father to declare his son missing.
Karamuço stated that in these cases, the person is searched for as missing and if the body or a DNA cell of the person is found, then they are declared dead.
He stressed that there have been cases where people have been resurrected even 20 years later. According to Karamuço, the state has no answers regarding Martinaj's fate as no sign of him has been found.
The expert also added that there is no evidence, the perpetrators have not been found, and that there are only legends about who may have killed him.
"This does not mean categorically that the person is dead. The person is wanted as missing and then can be declared dead. There have been cases that have been revived even after 20 years. It is a de jure thing with a de facto thing. De jure is what we are looking at and what can happen behind it that can be declared dead. Is he actually dead in fact, the state has not given an answer.
"At least one DNA cell, he couldn't find it. He did research, he went where he shouldn't have gone and they didn't find anything. It's all just hearsay, beliefs about specific people who were questioned. There are legends about who might have killed him, what interests he violated. But there's nothing with evidence to date that would lead you to the author or authors ," he told "Euronews Albania".
