
Two opposition protesters have been handcuffed by the police with four charges after incidents during protests held in front of Tirana City Hall.
The police say that in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana, two citizens from Borizana e Krujë have been prosecuted for the criminal offenses "Assaults due to duty", "Disturbance of public peace", "Violation of the rules on explosives and incendiary substances", and "Destruction of property by fire", carried out in collaboration.
During the opposition protests in front of Tirana City Hall, Molotov cocktails and explosives were thrown.
Tirana Local Police Directorate, today 26.04.2024, at 08:00, regarding the violent acts carried out during the protests of 11.04.2024 and 19.04.2024, in front of the Tirana Municipality, by the Alliance for the Protection of the Theatre, following the investigative and procedural actions and under the guidance of the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Tirana, arrested the citizens:
- AM, 36 years old, and LN, 40 years old, both residents of Borizana, Kruja, for the criminal offenses "Assaults due to duty", "Disturbance of public peace", "Breach of rules on explosives and incendiary substances", and "Destruction of property by fire", carried out in cooperation.
From the investigative actions carried out, it is suspected that these citizens, during the protests held on 11.04.2024 and 19.04.2024, committed violent acts, violently opposed the police officers, threw pyrotechnics and Molotov cocktails at the police officers and the Municipality of Tirana.
The materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office.
