Heavy rainfall has significantly worsened the situation throughout the Lezha region over the past few hours.
According to data from the Gjadri meteorological station, about 29 mm of rain has fallen in the last 24 hours, causing numerous problems in several municipalities.
The most serious situation is in the Municipality of Kurbin, where at around 06:00 in the morning, a family in the Fushë-Mamurras area, near the Drojë dam, requested urgent intervention after the water had completely surrounded their apartment. Municipal services intervened to help the isolated family, while similar problems are also reported in the Sandxhak neighborhood and in the village of Gjorm. In these areas, about six other apartments are under water as a result of the swelling of the Laç-Mamurras road.
The main concern remains the breach in the Drojë River embankment on the Durrës side, which has significantly increased the pressure on the Drojë and Shëllinza hydropower plants. As a result, the water level has immediately increased in the agricultural lands of the Adriatic area and in the villages of the Fushë-Kuqe administrative unit. DRUK structures have gone on full alert and are working non-stop in critical conditions to avoid greater flooding.
In the Municipality of Lezha, civil emergency teams and firefighters have been on the ground all night, removing water from an apartment in Shëngjin and a gym in the city.
Authorities are also closely monitoring the villages of Torovicë and Tresh, as well as the Sheher neighborhood, where cases of landslides near homes have been identified. Unlike Kurbini and Lezha, the situation in the Municipality of Mirdita appears calmer and so far no serious problems have been reported, while the responsible structures continue monitoring on the ground.
