Lack of lifeguards, concern for safety on Vlora beaches

Although the tourist season has officially started in Vlora, the city's beaches continue to lack lifeguards. This situation has increased the concern of vacationers, who consider safety at sea one of the most important elements during their vacations.

Vacationers who frequent the Vlora coast express insecurity while swimming in the sea. They emphasize that the presence of observers is necessary, as they can intervene in time and save lives in emergency cases.

"I've just started, I've had 2 days, but it has to be, it's necessary, because there are drownings here every year. I go to the beach here every year and there have been drownings. It's necessary. I don't know where it depends, who has it, the state, the municipality, the private sector, I don't know. There are also those who don't know how to swim, women who don't know how, children. The temperatures take their toll. Look, there have been drownings here for 2 years in a row, make no mistake, a woman was there last year. The observer is necessary ," a vacationer said to "EuronewsAlbania"

"There should be, there isn't. It's miserable here. I don't have a problem, but the children who come. Look at what's going on here. What kind of tourism is this? Life is in vain here, to lose a life in Italy, France becomes a name," said another vacationer.

In public spaces managed by the Municipality of Vlora, an information board has been placed, as every year, announcing the lack of beach lifeguards. Meanwhile, the tragic events recently recorded on the coast have once again brought attention to the necessity of taking concrete measures to guarantee the safety of vacationers during the summer season.
