Gentian Berberi is not expected to continue his duties as director of the Shkodra Police. After 11 months at the helm of this institution, he is expected to be replaced by Dashamir Spaho, while only the officialization of the decision by the General Directorate of the State Police remains.
According to sources, Dashamir Spaho, who previously served as deputy director in this region, is expected to be appointed as the head of the Shkodra Police. Most recently, Spaho was head of the Border and Migration Department at the General Directorate of the State Police.
Gentian Berber's name had been rumored for some time in the context of expected moves in the police leadership structures. During his period of leadership in Shkodra, one of the events that attracted attention was the suspension from duty of the head of the Police Station, Bekim Lika, after the discovery of a cannabis plot in the Velipoja area.
Berberi took over as head of the Shkodra Police about 11 months ago, having previously headed the Kukes Police. He was appointed to this post after the departure of Fatmir Lleshi, at a time when the focus was on the demolition of illegal buildings in Theth.
Upon returning to Shkodra, Dashamir Spaho is expected to take charge of the district police as director for the first time.
