Lawyer Indrit Sefa has raised concerns regarding the recent changes to the Criminal Code, highlighting the lack of adaptation to Albanian reality.
He emphasizes that there are provisions that violate professionals, while emphasizing that the drafters of the Criminal Code must be philosophers of law.
"Changes are needed in the Criminal Code, because we need to move closer to the EU. The drafting of codes should be done by the smartest people in society. The provisions are simply translated without adaptation. There are criminal offenses that violate human rights. There are provisions that violate professionals. The changes are an initiative since 2020. Those who draft the Code should be philosophers of law, because it also has to do with the way Albanian society thinks. The first Constitution of the Republic of Albania was very good, because it created a balance of powers. The new justice system has done a lot of work, it should be massively supported by Albanian society," Sefa told "News 24".
