Ilir Beqaj has been presented to SPAK in implementation of the security measure obligation to present for the issue of sterilization.
The former Minister of Health Ilir Beqaj has appeared at SPAK as every Friday in implementation of the mandatory security measure for the issue of the sterilization concession.
In the middle of November 2023, the Special Court ordered the ex-minister to appear twice a month at the prosecutor's office, for the charge of abuse of office. The investigation is about the alleged violations by SPAK, in the sterilization concession worth 100 million euros and a 10-year term, won by the businessman Ilir Rrapaj, already arrested together with the former Deputy Minister of Health, Klodian Rrjepaj.
In the testimony given earlier, the former minister stated that his activity was audited by the High Control of the State and no violations were detected.
While he is implementing the measure set by GJKKO on this issue, a parallel investigation has been launched for him on suspicions related to foreign funds, coordinated by SASPAC, the State Agency for Strategic Programming and Aid Coordination, where Beqaj was the director.
SPAK has suspicions of corruption and misuse of duties by Beqaj, but no proceedings have been registered, while his house was searched and his phone, computer and other documents were seized. Controls were also carried out in the residences of 5 other members of SASPAC.
