Protest continues

One of the most emotional moments of the 37th protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office was the speech of the mother of Arbër Lleshi, one of the activists arrested during clashes with the police on July 2.

Amidst the applause of the protesters, she confessed that her son, according to her, was raped while being escorted to the police van and that the marks of the beatings are still visible.

" Hello, resisters. I am the mother of Arbër Lleshi, who was arrested on July 2. The marks of the punches on the police van are still there, even now that it is the 6th! When I saw the video of my son being raped, I became stronger and said: If I came one day yes and one day no because I am sick, from today on I will be here in the square every day and you have us here !", she said.

Following her speech, she addressed Prime Minister Edi Rama, stating that the arrests will not deter parents from protesting.

" I'm saying this to Edi Rama: Do you think you're going to scare us by arresting our children? On the contrary! We've become even stronger and we'll be here in the square! Not 37 days, but 37 weeks and 37 months if you wanted! Until the stinking political class that massacred this people goes to the trash can. History has never seen such a prime minister in any country in the world! You chief thief, you don't deserve the word prime minister anymore! You can't lie to this people anymore ," she declared.

In conclusion, the activist's mother focused on the role of young people in the protest, saying that the battle will not stop.

" This youth has seen democracy and we can no longer score goals against this wonderful youth! We are here, with our children and together with our parents ," she concluded.

Her speech was greeted with applause by protesters gathered in front of the Prime Minister's Office, where for 37 days now, citizens have been continuing their rallies demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, the release of arrested protesters, and a change in the political class.
