"An ugly regime with a masterpiece", Ngjela shows the critics'

Lawyer Spartak Ngjela spoke about Ismail Kadare, the great Albanian writer who passed away on July 1.

Invited to 'Top Talk', Ngjela talks about an Anglo-Saxon critic, who described his great work "The General of the Dead Army" as an artistic value against the regime.

What was Ismail Kadare for you?

Njjela : He is a world figure, let me tell you what he was for me. But you respect me. We were surprised when "The General of the Dead Army" was suddenly published in Paris.

How was Kadare discussed?

Njjela : He was hit by great Anglo-Saxon criticism. The great critic has said 'Why bother? Why do we talk in vain? It is a communist regime and miserable. The fact that this literary work has great artistic value is against the regime'. Pearl. An ugly regime with a masterpiece, we couldn't catch it, he caught it. He said 'the fact that the literary work "Dead Army General" has artistic value is against the regime'. We also used this in his novel "Winter of Great Solitude", for which he was arrested.
