Lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu said that the visit of SPAK leader Altin Dumani to Washington, where he was received at the US State Department, had nothing to do with criminal files or investigations related to certain politicians.
In an interview with Report TV, Spahiu said that State Department officials and Duman discussed the election of the head of the National Bureau of Investigation and the limited mandate of the Special Prosecution, which risks being dissolved in 2027.
The lawyer also said that Dumani's reception at the US State Department confirms the Trump Administration's support for SPAK, and that the speculation that stirred the network a while ago, that the United States of America has given up on the Special Prosecutor's Office, following President Donald Trump's order to block funds that Washington donated to various causes and sectors in many countries around the world, including support for the largest "creature" of justice reform in our country, must be dismissed.
"In these days I have read many stories in the Albanian media saying that Dumani has been summoned for the Berisha dossier, the Rama "dossier", etc. I will say in short, in the meeting of the head of SPAK with DASH officials, the objective was not to discuss Sali Berisha and Edi Rama. It was a routine visit and not a specific visit, it was a visit of an ongoing partner, which undoubtedly proves that the State Department and the American administration have not given up on the SPAK project. Two essential problems were discussed: the one that SPAK has today: for the appointment of the head of the BKH, which is the main partner that supports the work of SPAK, and the second is the limited mandate of the special prosecution, these prosecutors will have to end their mandate in 2027. There is no political sign that the SP and the DP will vote to extend the mandate of the SPAK prosecutors. If there will be any change, I see it as difficult", said Spahiu.
