Criminalistics expert, Ervin Karamuço, spoke about the election of the General Director of the State Police, Skënder Hita.
He praised him as a person of high integrity and dignity, while emphasizing that Hita has shown resilience in the face of criminal pressure, facing difficult situations even when his colleagues had not resisted threats and blackmail.
Karamuço also brought up several concrete cases where Hita had shown courage and professionalism, not bowing to external influences and maintaining the high standards of a police officer, while describing Hita's experience as proof of his integrity and ability to lead such an important institution as the State Police.
The expert also pointed out Hita's good relations with SPAK and other agencies, as well as the fact that during his career he has never been mentioned for connections with gangs and crime, emphasizing that these elements make him a reliable leader for the State Police.
"This director, I will talk about the experience he has had and what he has faced, is one of the people who has had very high results. In the basket of directors in the last five years, he has been one of the directors who was identified as the future director of the State Police. He has participated three times in the race for Director General. The first time he ran with great desire, but there were intrigues, indirect pressures, and at that time he even lost his father and suffered a great shock. The second time, a little over a year ago, he did not want to because of what had happened, it was a great effort. He was convinced by the Minister of Interior at the time, Ervin Hoxha, who told him to enter the race because he was a person who manifests the values of a successful police officer, with meritocracy, not with politics, nor with gangs. He came out first with points. The law allows the minister to propose one of the three best and someone else was proposed. The third time he won. So it's a progression, there's a logical flow. This person, in his portfolio, has a 25-year career. The indicators I have show that he has followed the criminal line: either you'll face it, or you'll be bought, or you'll be sold. He's a man who has never been rumored to have connections to gangs. This has also been the opposition crisis today, I can't link him to any gang. This is a man of the criminal police line. He has drawn his gun from his belt twice. Once when he was the director of the Police in Durrës, when a large gang went to release an arrested person. They said 'we'll take him out', and he and the deputy director drew their weapons and said 'come on, take him out'. The other police officers retreated out of fear, the situation was very tense, but they stayed. The second time happened in Fier, many years ago, in a confrontation with a dangerous exponent of organized crime. They both drew their weapons, 'either you or me, either the state or crime'. Even there, the other police officers retreated. These are episodes that I know from the reports. Above all, there are also SHISH reports for the years 2016-2017 and others, where he is not involved in cannabis issues or other criminal activities. These are details that speak of his integrity. There is one very positive thing: he has extraordinary relationships, not only interpersonal, but also institutional with SPAK. He also has very good relationships with international agencies that assist in Albania. He has been trained, specialized and has been decorated several times. So we have an impeccable figure and we should not tarnish him in vain. That photo that came out with Altin Dumani was used by dark channels to harm him, but it has no connection to crime figures as was rumored. He did not appear with such people. On the contrary, he has institutional relations with justice. Let's not find a story to tarnish him in vain. With these two cases that I mentioned, he has shown confrontation. There appears to be the State Police. I'll give you another case. A seized car that was told 'don't touch it'. There was strong pressure.But that confiscated car was used by Hita himself to show that the state is above the individual. These are elements of confrontation that show integrity. In my opinion, his name should have had a broader political consensus. Because when you smear the highest police leader, you harm the entire organization, 12 thousand employees", Karamuço said on "Euronews Albania".
